Job Description

Warmwall Ltd. was formed in 1972 by the current CEO, Mr. Brendan McCrea. It is a highly innovative company specializing in insulation technology for the construction sector. The company is one of the industry leaders in the manufacturing and use of polystyrene to insulate cavity walls. Its products are currently the market leaders in performance.

THE ROLE (FUSION Project) - 13.5 Months
Part of the company’s vision and strategy is to create a market share in the area of energy efficient, zero carbon building solutions. Wallwall aims to develop wall panels that utilize renewable energy sources for heating. These new panels known as Warmwall will be easy to assemble, maintain and self heat. The Warmwall panels use a dense polystyrene core with concrete and rendered external and internal faces.
In addition to product development, Warmwall are also focussed on industry certification of its products. In order to sell to the European market, Warmwall must be compliant with the European building regulations, which will be one of the key outcomes of the project. An innovative design process must also be developed to link architectural designs to the production and build of Warmwall panels. This will ensure a competitive business process that provides made to order panels, which will address the current drive for prefabrication in the construction sector. These wall panels must be tested and evaluated to ensure that they comply with European building regulations. The Fusion project will also enable the company to develop new manufacturing technologies and overcome processing challenges to ensure the new product meets regulatory compliance. In addition, the graduate will develop business development and marketing plans for the new product to ensure product penetration with a variety of clients across the construction sector.

Reporting to the Company Supervisor, you will be employed by Warmwall to lead this InterTradeIreland FUSION project in partnership with the Institute of Technology Sligo. As part of this role you will be required to undertake a Postgraduate Diploma in Business & Management, from the William J. Clinton Leadership Institute at Queen’s University, Belfast. This is fully funded by InterTradeIreland. Job Objectives

• To carry out the tasks outlined in the project workplan and liaise with your Company and Academic Supervisors on an ongoing basis.
• To convene and service monthly technical meetings with the core project team (Graduate, Company Supervisor and Academic Supervisor)
• To report formally on a quarterly basis on progress with the workplan to a Project Management Group (PMG), this includes the assigned FUSION Consultant representing InterTradeIreland.
• To train staff so that the new technology is fully transferred and embedded in the company
• To work closely with the academic partner and travel to the academic institute as required.
• To undertake the Postgraduate Diploma in Business & Management, attending course modules and workshops
• Any other duties which might fall within the general ambit of the post.

Skills Required

Essential
To be considered for this position you must:
1. Min 2:2 honours degree in a construction related discipline, preferably Civil / Structural Engineering or a related discipline, such as Architecture or Quantity Surveying. OR a pass Degree together with 1 year relevant industrial experience, particularly in construction related disciplines.
2. Be eligible to work in Northern Ireland and to travel across the Island of Ireland (Both Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland) as required


Desirable
1. Understanding of design in the construction sector.
2. Understanding of concrete production and properties.
3. Understanding of structural design.
4. Understanding of the manufacturing environment and how it relates to the construction sector.
