Job Description

Derry’s Furniture specializes in manufacturing and wholesaling furniture. The company is broken up into 2 areas:
• Contract Furniture
• Trade Furniture

Contract Furniture involves the manufacturing, fitting and finishing of high end hotel and bar furniture that we sell in NI, ROI, UK, Europe and the USA. Onsite we have Joinery workshops, Fabrication workshops, Spraying workshops and a large Upholstery department all which contribute to the final product. We are the leading contract furniture manufacture in Ireland and world renowned in the Irish Pub industry for our products and service.

THE ROLE (FUSION Project) – 12 Month Contract
The Main objective of this project is to review the current business Order to Delivery process and design, install and configure a new bespoke Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system to suit the Derry’s Furniture business process. This will include the development of new business processes and customised extensions to the existing Maxon Accounts system to cater specifically for the Derry’s Furniture production, stock and pricing process. This will allow the company to effectively and readily expand into the European and North American market, control its current markets and support its on-line business activities.

Reporting to the Company Supervisor, you will be employed by Derry’s Ltd to lead this InterTradeIreland FUSION project in partnership with the Dundalk Institute of Technology. As part of this role you will be required to undertake a Postgraduate Diploma in Business & Management, from the William J. Clinton Leadership Institute at Queen’s University, Belfast. This is fully funded by InterTradeIreland. The skills learned through the Diploma will enhance your personal, professional and managerial capabilities and will provide you with the necessary and valuable business skills to help you undertake your project role. The company will fully support you throughout this by factoring in the required time off to attend modules and workshops.

Job Objectives

• To carry out the tasks outlined in the project workplan and liaise with your Company and Academic Supervisors on an ongoing basis.
• To convene and service monthly technical meetings with the core project team (Graduate, Company Supervisor and Academic Supervisor)
• To report formally on a quarterly basis on progress with the workplan to a Project Management Group (PMG), this includes the assigned FUSION Consultant representing InterTradeIreland.
• To train staff so that the new technology is fully transferred and embedded in the company
• To work closely with the academic partner and travel to the academic institute as required.
• To undertake the Postgraduate Diploma in Business & Management, attending course modules and workshops.
• Any other duties which might fall within the general ambit of the post.

Skills Required

Essential Criteria

Candidates must possess
1. Minimum 2.2 Hons in Management Information Systems (MIS), Computing or related discipline.
2. Legally permitted to work in the EU.

Desirable Criteria
1. Postgraduate qualification in Management Information Systems, Computing or related discipline.
2. Experience of working with ERP systems would be an advantage.
3. Ability to work on own initiative and with limited direction.
4. Ability to work in teams.
5. Very good communication skills both verbal and written.
6. Desire to learn and progress in the industry.
