Job Description

Redrock Machinery Ltd engages in the design and manufacture of trailers and agriculture machinery. Sales of new machinery and spares are through its distribution network in the UK, Ireland and mainland Europe. All products are designed and developed in-house and manufactured on site in Armagh.

THE ROLE (FUSION Project) – 18 Months
The role will involve the specification, design and testing of products for the agricultural, construction and waste recycling industries. The graduate will be required to design mechanical sub-assemblies and complete overall machine design as part of the new product development team.

Reporting to the Company Supervisor, you will be employed by Redrock Machinery Ltd to lead this InterTradeIreland FUSION project in partnership with Dundalk Institute of Technology. As part of this role you will be required to undertake a Postgraduate Diploma in Business & Management, from the William J. Clinton Leadership Institute at Queen’s University, Belfast. This is fully funded by InterTradeIreland. The skills learned through the Diploma will enhance your personal, professional and managerial capabilities and will provide you with the necessary and valuable business skills to help you undertake your project role. The company will fully support you throughout this by factoring in the required time off to attend modules and workshops.

Job Objectives

Main Duties
• To carry out the tasks outlined in the project workplan and liaise with your Company and Academic Supervisors on an ongoing basis.
• To convene and service monthly technical meetings with the core project team (Graduate, Company Supervisor and Academic Supervisor)
• To report formally on a quarterly basis on progress with the workplan to a Project Management Group (PMG), this includes the assigned FUSION Consultant representing InterTradeIreland.
• To work closely with the academic partner and travel to the academic institute as required.
• To undertake the Postgraduate Diploma in Business & Management, attending course modules and workshops.
• Any other duties which might fall within the general ambit of the post.

Skills Required

Essential Criteria

Candidates must possess
1. Min 2.2 Hons Degree in Mechanical / Manufacturing Engineering or related discipline.
2. Legally permitted to work in the UK / EU.

Desirable Criteria
1. Experience of working in industry would be a distinct advantage
2. Experience with using 3D CAD packages e.g. solidworks
3. Experience in Machinery design
4. Basic knowledge of manufacuring processes for metal fabrication
5. Understanding of basic stress calculation’s
6. Understanding of hydraulics and conveying
7. Basic Knowledge of Control Systems & Sensors
