Naas Industrial Estate, Naas, Co. Kildare
Closing Date: 09/04/2018 09:30
Salary:  €28,000

Job Description

The core business is the manufacture and supply of Drum and Disc brake axles (including full ABS/EBS braking & suspension systems). The Industries that Granning are active in are the Agricultural Trailers & Machinery, Add-on Axles Trucks & Commercial Vehicle and Asphalt/Bitumen plants. It separately has a commercial vehicle caliper refurbishment plant and is a supplier of aftermarket replacement parts for commercial vehicles.

THE ROLE (FUSION Project) – 18 Month Duration
Granning currently has 2 existing suppliers of steer axle beams but both suppliers have long lead times and are not set up for small production runs. The advantage Granning has in its market is that it can respond quickly to customers and can make one-off or small quantity orders. The steer axle supply is holding it back. It currently manufactures fixed axle beams and wants to expand production capabilities to include steer axles. In order to do this:
- Manufacturing and production jigs will have to be designed and made.
- Quality control and procedures will need to be set up
- Product improvements such as Air Chamber Bracket design and steer axle control is also needed.
This project aims to address above issues by developing a Granning self-steer and assisted steer axles so that it can offer a complete solution and respond to market demand.
The project will involve research, design, prototyping, safety approval, developing manufacturing processes including design of jigs/fixtures and putting in place quality control procedures.
