Job Description

Williaam Cox has been market leader in the area of roof glazing, smoke ventilation, fire safety, natural ventilation and plastics distribution for almost 50 years. It was bought by present owners in 2012. Its wide variety of world class materials allow it to provide superior solutions.
Its Plastics products are found in hospitals (anti-bacterial), clean rooms (anti-static), boats (reinforced plastics) and ambulances, sign making, gazebos, walkways, polycarbonate windows (marques, tents & playhouses) etc., proving that not only are aesthetically pleasing but also include excellent technical and physical qualities with minimised maintenance.

THE ROLE (FUSION Project) – 12 Month Duration
The aim of this project is to improve production processes to allow the company to more rapidly respond to increasing order levels. This will involve the investigation of 3D CAD, implementation of same and the linking of design and process to remove a large current bottleneck in production by reducing duplication and streamlining the interface between design and production. South Eastern Regional College (SERC) will assist streamlining and standardising the initial design/quotation process of the smoke ventilation systems and roof glazing projects. This will result in more efficient design & manufacturing times and increasing sales.

Reporting to the Company Supervisor, you will be employed by Williaam Cox Ltd to lead this InterTradeIreland FUSION project in partnership with the South Eastern Regional College. As part of this role you will be required to undertake a Postgraduate Diploma in Business & Management, from the William J. Clinton Leadership Institute at Queen’s University, Belfast. This is fully funded by InterTradeIreland. The skills learned through the Diploma will enhance your personal, professional and managerial capabilities and will provide you with the necessary and valuable business skills to help you undertake your project role. The company will fully support you throughout this by factoring in the required time off to attend modules and workshops.

Job Objectives

• To carry out the tasks outlined in the project workplan and liaise with your Company and Academic Supervisors on an ongoing basis.
• To convene and service monthly technical meetings with the core project team (Graduate, Company Supervisor and Academic Supervisor)
• To report formally on a quarterly basis on progress with the workplan to a Project Management Group (PMG), this includes the assigned FUSION Consultant representing InterTradeIreland.
• To train staff so that the new technology is fully transferred and embedded in the company
• To work closely with the academic partner and travel to the academic institute as required.
• To undertake the Postgraduate Diploma in Business & Management, attending course modules and workshops.
• Any other duties which might fall within the general ambit of the post.

Skills Required

Essential Criteria

Candidates must possess:
1. A min of 2:2 in an Engineering discipline, (Ideally Mechanical / Manufacturing)
2. Experience with CAD software
3. Legally permitted to work in the EU.

Desirable Criteria
1. Industry experience with 2D/3D CAD software
2. Excellent project management skills
3. Construction Industry Experience
