Job Description

NWA Group is one of the largest manufacturers of roofing accessories in Ireland & the UK. Established over 30 years ago, we pride ourselves on award winning customer service, focus on Innovation and premium product range.

We specialise in manufacturing Dry Roofing Products and in particular Dry Verge Systems. Since we first developed and invented the continuous Aluminium Slate Dry Verge System over 30 years ago, we have brought to market numerous associated products and produced over 15 million metres of verge trim to date.

Over the years since the company was first established, innovation, quality & product testing has been at the heart of the company’s success and development.

THE ROLE (FUSION Project) – 18 Month Duration
NWA wish to develop a new range of construction products targeted at the building and renewable sector. Through this project NWA wishes to design and manufacture new products through 3D Computer Aided Design (CAD), such as Solidworks, utilising Design for Manufacture and Assembly and Finite Element Analysis principles. Through Fusion this knowledge will become embedded within the company and will also allow the business to put their new innovative products into a real-life situation for test runs without having to build costly prototypes. These new products will be targeting the Irish, UK and European markets.

Reporting to the Company Supervisor, you will be employed by North West Aluminium Slate Trim (Ire) Ltd to lead this InterTradeIreland FUSION project in partnership with the North West Regional College. As part of this role you will be required to undertake a Postgraduate Diploma in Business & Management, from the William J. Clinton Leadership Institute at Queen’s University, Belfast. This is fully funded by InterTradeIreland. The skills learned through the Diploma will enhance your personal, professional and managerial capabilities and will provide you with the necessary and valuable business skills to help you undertake your project role. The company will fully support you throughout this by factoring in the required time off to attend modules and workshops.

Job Objectives

• To carry out the tasks outlined in the project workplan and liaise with your Company and Academic Supervisors on an ongoing basis.
• To convene and service monthly technical meetings with the core project team (Graduate, Company Supervisor and Academic Supervisor)
• To report formally on a quarterly basis on progress with the workplan to a Project Management Group (PMG), this includes the assigned FUSION Consultant representing InterTradeIreland.
• To train staff so that the new technology is fully transferred and embedded in the company
• To work closely with the academic partner and travel to the academic institute as required.
• To undertake the Postgraduate Diploma in Business & Management, attending course modules and workshops.
• Any other duties which might fall within the general ambit of the post.

Skills Required

Essential Criteria

Candidates must possess:
1. To hold or expect to achieve a min 2.2 degree (BEng) in, Engineering such as Mechanical, Renewable Energy, Manufacturing, Construction or Architectural engineering, by June 2018
2. Experience of 3D CAD design software for new product development
3. Legally permitted to work in the EU.

Desirable Criteria
1. Practical experience of working in engineering / manufacturing industry.
2. Understanding of quality assurance and EU/BS standards
3. Driving license
