Job Description

Voice Engineer Ireland (VEI) has a highly certified and experienced engineering team that specialises in Internet Telephone services, Unified Communications (Voice, Instant Messaging, and Web), Networking solutions and Business Wi-Fi. VEI specialises in providing outsourced managed services for multiple projects and companies in Europe and the US. These outsourced services consist of certified field technicians for maintenance and installation, 24/7 helpdesk for incident management and overall programme management. VEI provide this service in an outsourced model to reduce costings for SMEs using voice, internet and unified communication solutions.

THE ROLE (FUSION Project) – 18 Month Duration
VEI has identified an opportunity to develop a new Support Incident Tracking (SIT) System targeted towards commercial customers to improve current service level agreement targets. This software application will aggregate data from multiple stakeholders and allow for better management of incidents. For example, the customer raises a ticket on their system which is then imported into the SIT system. This will enable the customer to view / track incidents from their own console/profile. This software application will be built from scratch as a mobile first, cloud first and user centered designed application. The new version will be built in an intuitive manner with user input regarding usability and external system data considerations.

Reporting to the Company Supervisor, you will be employed by Voice Engineer Ireland Ltd to lead this InterTradeIreland FUSION project in partnership with the North West Regional College. As part of this role you will be required to undertake a Postgraduate Diploma in Business & Management, from the William J. Clinton Leadership Institute at Queen’s University, Belfast. This is fully funded by InterTradeIreland. The skills learned through the Diploma will enhance your personal, professional and managerial capabilities and will provide you with the necessary and valuable business skills to help you undertake your project role. The company will fully support you throughout this by factoring in the required time off to attend modules and workshops.

Job Objectives

• To carry out the tasks outlined in the project workplan and liaise with your Company and Academic Supervisors on an ongoing basis.
• To convene and service monthly technical meetings with the core project team (Graduate, Company Supervisor and Academic Supervisor)
• To report formally on a quarterly basis on progress with the workplan to a Project Management Group (PMG), this includes the assigned FUSION Consultant representing InterTradeIreland.
• To train staff so that the new technology is fully transferred and embedded in the company
• To work closely with the academic partner and travel to the academic institute as required.
• To undertake the Postgraduate Diploma in Business & Management, attending course modules and workshops.
• Any other duties which might fall within the general ambit of the post.

Skills Required

Essential Criteria
Candidates must possess:
1. To hold or have been awarded a min 2.2 Degree in Computing / Software Engineering / IT / Creative Computing by June 2018.
2. Legally permitted to work in the EU.

Desirable Criteria
1. Minimum one year industrial experience in Software Engineering/Computing/IT/Creative Computing
2. User Experience (UX) Design
3. RESTFul API development and an understanding of Cloud software (SaaS)
4. Mobile/Web Application Development
5. Data Visualisation
