Job Description

The business designs and manufactures a range of insulation products for the construction sector. Main products include floor insulation, external wall insulation (EWI) and bonded beaded cavity wall insulation. The company supplies these products direct to builders and hardware stores.

THE ROLE (FUSION Project) – 18 Month Duration
KORE insulation are looking for the successful candidate to design, develop and bring to the market a new insulated product which will significantly reduce heat loss due to thermal bridging in the building envelope. The product requires design, manufacture and testing before launching to the market place. Reporting to the Company Supervisor, you will be employed by KORE insulation to lead this Inter Trade Ireland FUSION project in partnership with the South West College. As part of this role you will be required to undertake a Postgraduate Diploma in Business & Management, from the William J. Clinton Leadership Institute at Queen’s University, Belfast. This is fully funded by Inter Trade Ireland. The skills learned through the Diploma will enhance your personal, professional and managerial capabilities and will provide you with the necessary and valuable business skills to help you undertake your project role. The company will fully support you throughout this by factoring in the required time off to attend modules and workshops.

Job Objectives

o To carry out the tasks outlined in the project workplan and liaise with your Company and Academic Supervisors on an ongoing basis.
o To convene and service monthly technical meetings with the core project team (Graduate, Company Supervisor and Academic Supervisor)
o To report formally on a quarterly basis on progress with the workplan to a Project Management Group (PMG), this includes the assigned FUSION Consultant representing Inter Trade Ireland.
o To train staff so that the new technology is fully transferred and embedded in the Company
o To work closely with the academic partner and travel to the academic institute as required.
o To undertake the Postgraduate Diploma in Business & Management, attending course modules and workshops.
o Any other duties which might fall within the general ambit of the post.

Skills Required

Essential Criteria

Candidates must possess:
1. Minimum 2.1 degree (or pending award) in engineering related course or another closely related discipline e.g. construction, engineering, energy
2. Knowledge of concrete structures
3. Strong understanding of thermal bridge modelling
4. Legally permitted to work in the EU.

Desirable Criteria
1. Postgraduate qualification in relevant subject.
2. Experience in design for manufacture and assembly (associated a need within the project to manufacture concrete and insulation products needing formwork for casting and specialist connections for installation on site).
3. Experience of working in industry would be an advantage
4. Experience using 2D and 3D design software for construction e.g. AutoCAD or Autodesk REVIT
